DUBBLE Z GARDEN

so work picked up, life got busy, time passed quickly, the days got longer, the sun got warmer, the earth kept spinning, weather changed, and then changed again, paid some bills, now i'm on hiatus. this is pretty much the best thing ever. not getting a paycheck is a good thing for a little while (or, if it keeps going, then great) but for us, with two little ones, money is a necessity at this point. we're talking everyday on ways in which to cut back and cut down  and cut cut cut and it dawns on you at some point that you may have many unnecessary things in your life. somethings may hold ya down or lift ya up. taking stock in what's the consistency of your existence is a damn good thing i reckon. anyhow, this is what i've been up to, weekends at a time, for the past four months.
it's the beginning to a life of growing food. granted, i've been growing our food during the normal grow seasons on and off for about six years now, this is the largest scale and most diverse i've gone. i'm loving it. everything's organic but is untested so i wouldn't sell it as such until I did get my soils tested. i don't use chemical spray and stick to OMRI listed soils and composts. this season i've used some seaweed and kelp fertilizer only because i'm trying to grow as much as i possibly can this year. enough talking, here's what's going on:

HERBS

Basil

Blue Rosemary

Catnip. We have four cats...nothin like growin your own.

Chocolate Mint--kids love it

Cilantro--needs a haircut. I'm not a huge fan of this stuff but the tiny white
flowers that pop up are robustly flavorful.

Cinnamon Basil. The little light purple flowers to bloom
are amazing. Tastes like basil with a dash of cinnamon which
may not sound as good as it is.

Crinkly Purple Basil

Peppermint--kids love it

Orange Mint

Lemon Thyme

Parsley

Lemon Balm--bad photo, it's doing much better than it looks

Ecinacea

Purple Sage

Rosemary
